Ffounded in 1974, they are the local amenity society for Gateacre Village and the surrounding area. Registered with the Civic Trust, they are part of a national movement of voluntary societies concerned with the care of the environment. Among the things they do are to:

• Examine the REGISTER OF PLANNING APPLICATIONS regularly, and make comments when they feel it to be necessary.
• Respond immediately if Gateacre's ENVIRONMENT is threatened.
• Research LOCAL HISTORY.
• Issue NEWSLETTERS to members to keep them informed.
• Maintain a WEBSITE to publicise their activities and keep in touch with former Gateacre residents.
• Hold MEETINGS, OUTINGS and ILLUSTRATED TALKS.

They are a Charity, and strictly non-party political. Recognised by Liverpool City Council for consultation purposes, they have good relations with Council Departments and their local Councillors. They are also in contact with many other people and organisations who can be of assistance to them.
